Surnames are having a LONG moment. I think it's connected to The Blind Side as that's when I saw people start talking about it.
I suspect that the closeness to Colin is the reason it ends up used on girls.

What is the Blind Side? I've never heard of it?

Has a lot of controversy now for the "white savior" narrative and the fact the white people in the film have been revealed to have mistreated and abused Michael Oher, making the film even more offensive now. Do not recommend seeing it.

Yeah, I missed the original hype and only watched it for the first time a couple years ago, and yikes. I can NOT believe Sandra Bullock was even nominated for an Academy Award for that junk, never mind WON. She's not a bad actress, but that movie was seriously garbage. I think the Academy loses its mind a bit whenever something is "based on a true story".
200% Even at the time there was some pushback against its nominations and whether they were deserved... I love Sandra Bullock but that role had me thinking "oof". Oof oof oof.

Wow...had no clue this movie was so hated. It's a favorite of my family and myself. If you haven't watched it you definitely should.
