Firstly, I would like to apologize to everyone here who's heard me complain about my name being too common.
I'll stop now, because Scarlett went from #14 to #27!!!
A Catholic mom made some rude comments about my name this week (about the bad connotations in Catholicism), which had me feeling even more down about it. I'm Christian, and no one has ever bugged me about it. Well, if people are thinking that "scarlet" has a bad meaning, at least the numbers are going down. I really like my name, so I feel like I'm owning it again!

Mine went from #39 to #40 but hey, I'll take it, lmfao 🤣 but honestly the older I get the more I'm not too bothered by it anymore. So long as there isn't more than one girl/woman at my office / class with the name and causes confusion I'm not bothered. What bugs me is when my favorite name ideas for future babies tick up! There were 5 Katie's in my small little class growing up, and I wouldn't want my kids to be more than 1 in a sea of same named children 🌊 🤣🤣🤣

When I first joined this site, it was ranked around #33. Watching my name slowly fall has been tragic for me!

Why is it important that the mother was Catholic? Do Catholics have a bias in their terminology Against the word scarlet? Is it something to do with the Scarlet Letter and being associated with adultery?? No idea. But Scarlett is pretty and I have a soft spot for it. When I'm feeling partial to popular names I like to imagine twin girls named Scarlett and Audrey. I too rejoice when my name dips back down again as a fellow popular named person. Huzzah!

Oh for sure! I love Scarlett and Audrey I think they're quite complimentary to one another as twins or ordinary sisters

In the bible, Scarlet represents sin. The woman in Revelation is clothed in Scarlet. But to me the name is totally fine.
Um, not to mention The Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne, if you want a better literary connection.

I knew at least three girls growing up named Scarlett, but then again I was a Baptist in a predominantly Baptist community so that bias possibly doesn't exist in that population.. or at least in the one I was in. Then again, I also knew a few Delilah's too so perhaps my community was more based on aesthetic than implications. My childhood nickname in my friend group was Delilah too purely for aesthetic and being biblical without the implications.

Wow, two Scarlets? I was born in the 2000s and my name seemed relatively unpopular then... it jumped up around 2011-2012.
