Wally
YuriModern-day teens:

I, too, have watched every episode of School Spirits. I'm outside the demographic it's aiming for but I've actually been impressed with the show - it feels like it's aiming for something more ambitious than your standard supernatural/teen drama flair.Anyway.The ghosts: Charley is fine as a nickname. Janet and Rhonda feel hopelessly dated, but appropriate for their characters' eras. Dawn is fine, but I prefer it as a middle name. Wally and Yuri are fine as short forms. I like Quinn in theory. The modern day kids: Chloe is so overdone, but appropriate. I like Claire a lot, but again, overused. Madison is going to be so reflective of a specific era and I kind of dislike it. Nicole is fine. I like Simon and Xavier.
Haha, I was wondering if someone would figure out the show from the characters’ names! I really, really liked the show, and I can’t wait for season three!!I think we have similar taste in names!
Nicole as a name for a modern-day teen feels anachronistic! Although I suppose 15 years ago it wasn't SO uncommon.... It's just very 80s. I guess it would be the equivalent of a teenager named Lori in the 90s. The other teen names seem very appropriate. I love Wally, it's adorable. Rhonda is fun, and Janet is growing on me. I really liked it after watching The Good Place.
Yeah, now that you say that, I’ve never met a Nicole (I’m 22). I think it’s such a lovely name, so that’s pretty disappointing! What’s even stranger is Nicole is a Hispanic character, but Nicole isn’t a Hispanic name. Race/ethnicity wasn’t a focus of the show, though.
My birth name was Nichole and I'm 22. I've never met another my age, but it was in the top 1000 at the time, so I can see why a writer might choose it for someone born around the same time as me.
I love the names Janet, Claire, Rhonda, Chloe, and Quinn for girls. I also think that Xavier is such a handsome name for a boy.
