I assume so, it feels like that would help with immersion. I just realized my teachers never explained the why of it though, they just said "this is what we're doing" and went on with it. Like, clearly they must have understood the reasonings and psychology behind it, they just never thought to share that with their students, which makes me a little sad because I think a lot of would've found it interesting and perhaps not tried to argue against it.
(I wanted to remain Tabitha because it was also the name of one of the characters in our Spanish textbooks, and our Hispanic/Latinx students were allowed to keep their names the same - she even let another student be "Tabitha". I was very annoyed lol it was also confusing for the entire time because I was the only Tabitha in my grade, and one of like two or three in the whole school).
