I love it, it sounds valiant and whimsical. I adore the history behind it. Truly a hidden gem.

I would use Middie, Edie, Dina, Mina, Nina or Meina as nicknames.

Med- is unusual, but unfortunately Eina, pronounced with ei- = ay as in day, is the Afrikaans for Ouch.
