[Opinions] Re: Thoughts on…
I find Abigail drab and uninteresting, and Abby unpleasant. I could live with Gail as an independent name.
Joy is delightful! My daughter is Beatrice, so I wouldn't use Joy, but I like it a lot. Even though the two Joy people I've met have been (1) very quiet, unable to cope at school and (2) large, loud and self-serving.
Juliet is my favourite Juli- name by far, and this is the only spelling I enjoy. I would only use it as a mn, to avoid the nn Julie, which I dislike.
Linnet would be LINet, like the bird. Lynette (linET) would be preferable.
Rue: strange meaning for a given name, and one does rather think of Ophelia: "There's rue for you, and here's some for me; we may call it Herb of Grace on Sundays. You must wear your rue with a difference."
She is on the point of suicide, and feeling rue (regret); those who have driven her to that state must wear their rue (remorse) with a difference - they must acknowledge what they have done, and go on living and feeling their guilt.
