It depends. The girl would almost certainly have been Primrose. I assume her mother was still alive at the point (and anyway they were not close) so Asterid is unlikely. If choosing an unrelated nature name Willow is likely (it is not canon though! I promise you.) I doubt Rue - Katniss would only choose the name of someone really close to her, and leave other honour names to that person’s family.

For the boy, I agree Burdock is likely to honour her father. Peeta’s was Otho, but doesn’t seem like they were as close as Katniss was to her family. Rye is likely and very cute - wasn’t Peeta’s brother supposedly (again, not canon!) named that? Finnick is possible, but again I think Katniss would leave that for Annie to use. She’d say he isn’t hers to honour.

My final answer is Primrose and Burdock. Or, Willow and Rye if she feels like making a fresh start instead of honouring the past. Perhaps she would have named them Willow Primrose and Burdock Rye or something? Mixing it up?

I love this series so much, if you haven’t read the 2 prequels (Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Sunrise on the Reaping) DO, because I think they’re amazing.

She would have definitely named the girl after her sister. The boy could be a toss up between her dad's name or Peeta's dad's name.

They were Willow and Rye in the book. So it's not just something a lot of people think.

I think they already have names mentioned in the book?

Did she ever say what her father's name was? I bet she named her son after him.
