Tathana Patience Steelblade was born to a human mother and an orc father. Her father died when she was a baby, and she grew up as the "ugly duckling" in a predominantly human community in the prosperous desert Sandplains of Volazita. Feeling rejected by her mother's kinsmen, Tathana left as soon as she was of age and joined the Sunfire Order, an orc religious order who worships the sun god and follows a strict doctrine. She took the vow of obedience and began training to be an Elder of the Order. However, after a childhood of dreaming to live among orcs, Tathana discovered that she didn't fully fit in here either. She left Elder training before completing it - although she still upholds her Sunfire vow of obedience - and now lives a nomadic lifestyle, picking up mercenary work and searching for the place she will finally belong.
