[Opinions] Re: Charlotte

I recall really loving this name when I was very young, because it was super rare then. The strongest association was the spider from Charlotte's Web and I remember the name had a bad reputation among my peers for that reason. It's funny how so many names that my peers despised became such superstars. Charlotte and Sophia were especially reviled, and look at them now.
I don't mind this name, still, though it is not nearly so shiny anymore. My grandmother absolutely hated it, like to the point that it was weird, which gave it major points. She made Charlotte sound so cool - like the gaudiest tart that ever trolloped, a salacious siren that dripped sequins and scandal. I even made Charlotte Shirley as a fantasy combo in honour of how much it would make her roll in her grave. Charlotte Shirley works real nice. But in real life I'd never waste a middle name on Shirley.
I know of someone who named her kid Charlotte and calls her Chuck, which is kinda cute. I prefer Carlotta or Carlota myself, these days. But Charlotte is nice.
