[Opinions] WDYT of Mimi?
What do you think of this name? I personally think it's very pretty and nicely feminine, yet simple and adorable, and it makes me think of the character in La Bohème. I'm not sure if it's just me, but somehow I've gotten the impression that I belong to a minority with my opinion about the name because it seems that everyone else dislikes it. Anyways, WDYT of Mimi?

Well, I wouldn't use it on my daughter, but I love the name itself because of La Boheme, and especially due to RENT, which is based off La Boheme."They call me
They call me Mimi."--RENT, Would You Light My Candle

I like Mimi as a nickname for Maria. I think we are in the minority of people who like it, but I get that feeling a lot with the names that I like and dislike. Hey, at least I don't use boy names for girls like about 50 percent of the people on this bored. I'm sure someone will rat my behind out for that comment. Bring it on, angry boy-names-on-girls lovers.

I think of the grandmother in the Babysitters Club series.
But it is cute as a nickname. Maybe for Jemima? (I think this name deserves a comeback! And not on a pancake syrup bottle!)

I would never use it as a full first name. It's an okkay middle name though. "Is this you? Love it as a nickname, not as a full name. It'd be too cutesy for me to give someone as a full name but I think as a nickname it'd be sweet... for a limited sort of time. Personally I wouldn't like to be Mimi my whole life, so I wouldn't do that to my own offspring. It's like calling your kid Kiki or Momo or Cokie; it's kind of cute for a while, but it'd be tiresome to not be able to grow out of it.

Ditto. mI think it's cute as a nickname but not as a full name.

hmmm...I like it...but more for a nickname than a name name...there are some good suggestions for a full name. But even if you keep it at mimi it would be cute..it does kind of grow on you...l0lRahrac misneach mo choi...mochuisle

I don't dislike it! Although I consider it kind of short and cutesy to be a full name, it's still nice. Maybe a nn for... Mirabelle? Miriam? Mary? Marina?

its cute as a nickname, but not for the persons real name. If you want to call you child this, give then a name starting with the MEE sound, or at least something starting with an m. I like it as a nn for Melinda.

"They call me--they call me--Mimi..."I was a RENThead for several years there, and Mimi was my favourite character. At the same time, I was in the height of my love for Digimon, and once again? Favourite character was Mimi. :D The name is really sweet, but at the same time, there's definitely some kick. It's a favourite of mine.I also like Mamie quite a bit. I'd probably use either as nicknames if I used them, though. Mimi's kind of like Kiki (another favourite) in that it would work for any name that starts with M.Array

I think it's cute but perhaps needs a longer full name, with Mimi as the nickname.

I've always loved it too. At one time, I would have named a dd Mimi, as a nn for Marie.I have a friend named Mary, but she's always gone by Mimi.I don't know why, but it's not more popular. It seems cute and sophisticated at the same time.

Mimi Labonq - the nutty waitress on 'Allo 'AlloI'll always think of her when I see the name Mimi, it's ok, very cutsey, it always makes me smile when I hear it though.

I like it as a nn for a longer name beginning with the letter M. It's very cute that way. As a name all of itself, I think it's a little lacking, though. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I don't like it at all. Not to speak for everyone, but I think you're right about being in the minority of those who like it. It's okay on a dog or cat though, if that helps :)Kristen~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sounds like a child's name for her grandmother. I actually know a family who calls their grandmother Mimi. Also it reminds me of the woman on the Drew Carey show with lots of blue eyeshadow.

Much too cutesy for a given name. I don't like it as a nickname but it's much better that way.

Yeah, it's a bit too "pink ruffelles and ballet dancers" for me, too, but I still like it for some reason, even though I usually dislike cutesy names.
