Help[Opinions] Cheyenne
I have come to really like the name Cheyenne. And I have been looking for a cute girl name to carry on the Anne that runs in my mother's line of the family. You see my grandma's name is JoAnn, my mom's name is Anne, and my real name is Suzanne. What do you think about Cheyenne? Do you like it better spelled Cheyanne? What are some other names you like that would carry on the Anne and that go with Paige and Emmie?

For me, this is not an Anne name
because I'm a bit more of a purist, or even a prude you might say, about its pronunciation. I say it shyENN, just like it looks (yes, even despite my Texas twang - I can turn that on and off at will, y'know). Spelling it Cheyanne corrects the pronunciation problem, but ruins the name. Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water - I would never go for any spelling other than Cheyenne. So for me it wouldn't work.
Having said that, I absolutely see where you're coming from, and I give you full marks for imagination, and I do in fact think it works nicely in your family. So go for it!

Cheyenne is nice, not something I'd use, but okay on someone else's kid. Sounds great for continuing the "ann" tradition. I prefer the Cheyenne spelling, but Cheyanne isn't terrible, especially bc it honors your mother's family line.

Naming a kid Cheyenne, Dakota, etc. are like naming a kid Canadian, French, or British to me. It also strikes me as disrespectful to the Native Americans who originally called themselves these names.
More specifically, Cheyenne is very trendy. It also has an unattractive meaning: "unintelligible speakers".
But for goodness sake don't misspell it! Cheyanne, Shyanne, etc. are all really, really tryndee, tacky, and icky to me. (Shyanne reminds me of, well, a shy Anne.)
