[Opinions] Re: Lideilah
in reply to a message by AshJ
If you're going to say it lih-DAY-lah, I'd spell it something like Lidela or Lidayla. Lideilah is insanely messy and ambiguous looking--I think that spelling would cause a world of trouble. The sound is nice. :) For some reason, I'm reminded of Laneta (luh-NEE-tuh), the name of a girl I knew. Hers was a name I always thought was cool--I think it was one of those awesome old maybe-made-up 1800s family names that we don't have any of in my family. I'm jealous of people with crazy 1800s family names, lol. lih-DAY-lah sounds a bit like that, too. ArrayETA: And the repeated AY sound makes it a cool combo with Jayne. I approve. Lidela Jayne or Lidayla Jayne--I'd prefer the former by far, since "ay" in names is the nomenclature equivalent to diarrhea in my eyes. :-/

Yeah I wasn't so sure on spelling so I just spelt it how it sounded really lol. I like Lidela but do you think it would get pronounced lih-DEL-ah by any? I have a feeling it might here (in NZ).
Can't wait to hold you!

I suspect that no matter how you spell it, lih-DAY-lah will get mispronunced on occasion. I'd immediately guess lih-DAY-lah at that spelling--but that's because lih-DEL-ah would make more sense as Lidella (Lid + Ella, ha). Unfortunately, I have no gauge for how well it'd go over in NZ. :( But I think Lidela would be the most logical, cleanest spelling, myself. Lidala would be lih-DAH-lah to me, Lidayla would be messy with Jayne, Lidaela could almost work but I think Lidaela Jayne is a bit messy yet...Lidela seems like the smart way of going about it to me.Array
