What do you think of the name Desmond? I was just thinking about it this evening, and I've realized that I kind of like it. I never really thought much about it before, but I'm sort of digging it. Makes me think of "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da". I'd probably call him Des.

What would be some good middle names? I was thinking Desmond Riley (Riley is a family name), but for some reason, my mind's blank of other boy names I like. Heh, I'm rather stupid tonight.

I like Desmond! I would never use it myself, but it sounds nice to my ears. I used to know a boy called Desmond in primary school.
Desmond Riley sounds good.

I think that Desmond is a great name. Desmond Riley is an excellent combo (even more so since it is a family name).

Hey there! Desmond is one of the few names that I loved when I was ten and still love. I think it hits the perfect aim of being unusual but not weird, and easy to pronounce. I probably won't use it, not because there's anything wrong with it (I think it's great and Des is the coolest nickname ever), just because all of my favorite boys names are family names. Too bad my dad isn't Desmond! Anyway, I think you've gotten some great suggestions and my feeble brain is too tired to think of any more right now. I'll try tomorrow, though! How about Desmond Elijah (there, there's one!)? Also, thanks for suggesting Alexandrine as an alternative to Alexandra as a mn for Selah... I really, really like it and think Selah Alexandrine sounds better than Selah Alexandra. Hope you don't mind if I "adopt" it? :o)

Go for it! I want to spread the Alexandrine love around, heh. :) It's such a pretty name.

I like Desmond Elijah. That'll have to go into the Hello Kitty Notebok of Names, too. :)

I like it. Desmond Riley is nice, especially since Riley is a family name and not a trendy fill in.

I've liked this name for a while, but my whole family says it sounds horrible. I like the combo Desmond Riley. On my list, I have Desmond Kyle. I think it's a beautiful name!!!

I love it! It's been on my favourites for a long time. I love the nn Des or even Desi. I don't really like Riley, but it's a good middle name and it flows well.

Ooooh, I'd like Desmond Rafael. (I have something against Raphael, but I love Rafael.) Thanks for the suggestions--in fact, I like all of them other than Desmond Nathaniel and Desmond Graeme (but Desmond Graham is sounding dashingly rock star-ish, for some reason. ;) )

You're welcome. I agree, Nathaniel and Graeme are probably the weak links in that list. And I think Desmond itself sounds like a rockstar/actor name, or the young hot guy on a daytime soap.

The rockstar thing is coming from the fact that I associate Desmond with the Beatles and Graham with the Hollies. :) Very cool. Thanks so much, again! Those're some great suggestions. They're going in the Hello Kitty Notebook of Names.
