[Opinions] Eugene
Is Eugene too dorky? Will the child be made fun of in future years? Its a fmily name and I just wanted your opinion. Would it work as a middle name?

I like it..especially with the nick name ,Geno
Please do not name your child Eugene. Kids get beat up for the stupidest things.
I think Eugene is dorky and the child would definitely be made fun of. It would work as a middle name. I personally wouldn't use it as middle name or first name. But if its a family name and you really like it then go for it. But now that I think about it Eugene is cute in a weird sort of way.
What about just plain Gene?

It is unusual, but I don't think that it is especially dorky. It is the sort of name that fits an adult better than a child, but I consider that a good thing. There are too many names that work that opposite way. After all, every parent presumably hopes that his little one will spend at least four times longer as an adult than as a child.

To be honest, I find it kinda dorky but I think it would work great as a middle name. I think its much better as a mn than a fn but I think its great for people to use members of their family's names on their children.
Jim Carrey's middle name is Eugene, and he's made out all right. :)
I think I'd like Eugene if it was a family name for me--but it's not, so I think of eugenics. :/ I love just plain Gene, though--I think it's snazzy like a fedora with a red feather in it.

...And then he said, "You're independent, aren't you?"
"Yes," said Laura.
A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.

I love the name, but then again, my tastes run to the dorky. I prefer this in a feminine form, either Eugenia (nn Genia), or Eugenie. But Eugene is terrific too. My dh has a friend Eugene who always goes by Geno. He is certainly not a dork.

Definitely too dorky. Maybe you could use it as a middle name, or just "Gene"
