[Opinions] Acadia
What do you think of Acadia? Acacia has always been a name I liked, but I've just discovered that I'm really liking Acadia, as well. I was thinking about Acadia Lisette, but I'm failing to think of some more middle names to do it justice.Oh, and to my sadness, I'm worried that Arcadie, another name that I kind of fancy, is unusable. It looks pretty on paper, but I'm afraid people'd pronunce it AR-katie all the time. And that sounds like "Our Katie", which is as bad as Amiracle or Myangel. (I'd pronunce it ar-kay-DEE.) Is it worth saving? I'm afraid I don't like Arcadia, no offense to the one here. ;)Array

The name Acadia sounds a little too grown up, more like an old woman's name. Good luck, though.

Arcadia, Acacia and Arcadie aren't my style though.
Acadia comes from Akkad, a region of Babylonia: http://www.crystalinks.com/akkadia.html

Acadia BlytheAs for Arcadie/"our Katie"... sorry, I must agree with you. I find the pun obvious. One fo the reasons I chose Arcadia as my username was because it sounded like Katie, and Arcadie... well, sounds even closer to Katie. Sorry. ~ Arcadia

I much prefer Acacia over Acadia & Arcadie. What about Cassia and Adella?:)

I like both Cassia and Adela (but not Adella--the two L's make me woozy), thanks. :) Adele is a favourite in my family (though we probably wouldn't use it), and Cassia was one of my favourites about two years ago. I've become more of a Cassandra person as of late, actually.Array

The Ac- just doesn't appeal to me much, maybe because it just sounds a little harsh to me spoken aloud. The R really helps that. The sh in Acacia helps it too.I'd pronounce Arcadie ARcahdee, and I don't think it sounds like our katie.. it would if it was pronounced arCAIDee. ARcahdee is nice, I think. Actually, it is practically the same as Arkady.. never realized that. I like Arkady too. Maybe spelled Arcadee, you could get it pronounced the way you like it? That would be kind of cute IMO. - chazda

Oooh, Arkady is pretty. :) I think it's a very attractive name for a boy. I haven't given much of the Arcadios family of names much thought, and I'm starting to think that perhaps I should. It's strange, but I kind of like the spelling Arcadee. Generally, I can't stand double E endings like that (especially when they turn names into things like Ashlee and Chelsee), but Arcadee kind of looks cute.Clearly, this needs more thought. Thanks for the help!Array
