[Opinions] Kyan, Beckett, Thackery ...
WDYT of the names Kyan, Beckett & Thackery?Kyan (KYE-in) is an old favorite that I had forgotten about. May be a bit too similar to my little cousins name Ci'Ann (KYE-ann) to use though.Beckett would be a way to honor my mom and her family since Beck is her maiden name. Also, my great-grandmother's maiden name was Bennett, so it incorporates that as wellThackery is a more recent favorite, along with Thatcher. So WDYT?

I'm not a fan of trendy-looking names or names that start with K (for some odd reason) but I do like Kyan. Blame Queer Eye, maybe. I also like Kian (or Cian), though. I don't care for Thackery, nor Thatcher (too Margaret Thatcher). Thackery reminds me too much of Zachary, of which I'm not a fan at all. Beckett and Bennett are ok, but a little surname-y as fn's, imo. Beckett as a mn, esp. with the family connections are great, though. Actually, it's not bad as a fn, with the family connections, esp. with nn Beck. :)

I have mixed feeling about Kyan. At first I pronounced it the same as your cousin's name, but when I thought about how I pronounced Ryan, I realized that it is KYE-in.Beckett reminds me of the singer of The Academy is... It just seems like a surname to me. It could work as a mn, though, imo.Thackery just doesn't seem right. I automatically think of William Makepeace Thackeray. I prefer Thatcher actually.

Kyan's throwin me offI'm tryin to like it. I think I do. So much like Ryan, though, of which I have never been fond. Yet it's got that (to me) masculine hard K sound... yeah, okay, I like it.And I like Beckett, Bennett, Thackery and Thatcher too.:-)~Lillian~

Kyan - Makes me think of cayenne pepper. Otherwise fine.Beckett - If you have the family names Beck and Bennett to work with, I'd just use those. Beckett just seems too surnamey to me, and if it's not even your own surname, I guess I miss the point. In my opinion a namesake uses the actually name. Close enough doesn't work for me. Anyway, I prefer straight Beck which reminds me of the so-nerdy-he's-hot musician. Mmmmm...Thackery - really, really dislike the harsh sounds going on it this one. Sounds like a child having issues saying Zachary right.

Kyan sounds voisy too me for some reason. Noisy and sharp. I just dislike it.Beckett I love, and have loved for a while.Thackeray I think is cool in theory. It has an excellent flow an is overall just veyr charming, but on the other hand, it could be shortened to Thack, which is not attractive.PS -- not sure if I will be around tomorrow, so I'll say it now: Happy Birthday! I am offically jealous of your age. :-P

Kyan: I love me some Queer Eye, and so it gets a thumbs-up from me. Ky would be a great nn.Beckett: Lots of good associations--Samuel Beckett, St. Thomas a Beckett--so it also gets the thumbs up from me. And (ooh, this is the best part) you could totally call him Beck. And Beck = pretty much one of the coolest names ever.Thackery: Simply doesn't look quite right, since I hear it and think of William Makepeace Thackeray. Without the last A, I don't like it as well. I'm also disappointed by the lack of instinctive nns to go with it. It's not bad--I think I need some time to warm up to it.Array

Haha, yes Beckett would inevitably be called Beck at times : )I hadn't really thought of nicknames for Thackery since I don't use nicknames too much. Haha, I know, I can call him Tacky ; )

YES!Tacky is absolutely fabulous. Honestly. And you can totally read him Tacky the Penguin by Helen Lester and Lynn M. Munsinger. It's one of the most amazing picture books in the world, I tell you.Thackery nn Tacky sounds like fun. I approve, silly as it is. :DArray
