Deborah or Debra? Which do you like better? Is there a reason for you preference? Thanks!

I prefer Deborah because it's the Biblical spelling.

Deborah; Debra looks like the contraction it is, and so is a little too informal and incomplete for my taste. Deborah isn't a 'fancy' name to me, so contracting it sort of reduces it for me. - chazda

(hit enter too soon) I tihnk Deborah is a lovely name. I was almost Deborah Anne. It's a simple, but pretty combo. I like longer names with shorter names.

Deborah because it looks more old-fashioned.

Deborah. My aunt is Debra, and it's always looked so incomplete to me.

I don't care for the name either way myself but if you pronounce it with 3 syllables Deborah but if you plan on slurring the syllables into only 2 than I prefer Debra. I feel the same way about Brittany and Brittney and Cameron and Camryn.

Deborah by a long shot. Debra is a creative spelling invented during the name's spike in popularity in the 1950s, and therefore is an example of "dated trendiness". Deborah, on the other hand, is the traditional spelling, and stands the test of time. You should spell the name Deborah if you plan on using the name these days. By the way, Deborah is one of those dated names that I like so much!

Yes, you actually like it?! That makes me so happy. Most of the people I've talked to don't like it very much. What names do you like with it, either as a middle or first name for Deborah?

Yes, one of my favorite categories of names are names that most people find too dated, especially dated girl's names. I've not really given any thought about names to go with Deborah, though.Just to let you know, my two big favorite categories of names are dated names (especially for girls) and unisex names for boys. I like names that most kids would not like to have!

I prefer Deborah over Debra as well. While, I don't particularly like the name to begin with, I think that Deborah looks more complete and Debra looks really childish and misspelled.

I prefer Deborah or Dvorah. I find Debra strange and misspellt.

Deborah over Debra. I don't know why. Maybe because Debra seems too cute-little-girl. Hmmm . . . Learn more about myself everyday. I never realized I had an opinion on this!
