It's 'just okay' on a girl. I wouldn't use it for a girl because my perception is that it's better suited to a boy. I wouldn't want to be called it, myself. Something about the stressed 'cam' syllable is sort of pushy on a girl, to me.

I'm not opposed to respelling it to make it more femme, but I don't really like any of the respellings, and it's still Cameron spoken aloud - a surname. Pretty much any way you respell it is decent enough, as long as you don't change the C to a K.
