[Opinions] Re: Sterling

I like the name well enough (know a kid with this name), but it might not jive with your last name, esp. with the pronunciation of "nickel". That's like saying "Golden Quarter" or "Guilded Copper".

Thanks, that's the reason we probably won't use it. I was just wondering if others also thought it sounded funny.
Yeah, I have a last name that can be problematic in the same way as yours, so I know how you feel. Sorry. :-(

What if the baby's name was hyphenated? Do you think Dashiell Bertrand-Nicoll / Holden Bertrand-Nicoll / Sterling Bertrand-Nicoll eliminate the problems?
I think Sterling Bertrand-Nicoll would be ok. Hardly anyone would get it. I love Sterling btw. :-)

To a degree, certainly. It actually breaks it up and makes it sound "cool", a la William Carlos Williams. However, I don't know how I feel about hyphenated names... what is the reason behind the hyphenation?
