[Opinions] Margalo
For a girl, probably with Marlo as a nickname. What do you think of it?Array (shamelessly stole Margalo from Stuart's bird friend in E.B. White's Stuart Little)

Hmm, first thought is that I don't like it. But it actually has a nice sound, and Marlo makes a cute nickname : )Marlo makes me think of Marlon Brando for some reason, haha.

I really like Marlo (Marlot) for a girl, but something about Margalo doesn't sit right with me. It just seems like Marlo with an extra, superfluous syllable stuck right in the middle to be "different".I've never read/seen Stewart Little, but after you say that it does sound more like a cartoon animal's name. The first thing that popped in my head when I read the name was "The Jungle Book"... wasn't there a Marlo or Mar something name in that? You'll have to help me out, as I don't see much Disney.

My first thought was that it sounds like a cross between Margot and buffalo. It sounds interesting and Marlo is cute but I'm not sure if I like it. I prefer Margot but it could grow on me.

It reminds me of 'gigolo'. I prefer Margo and Marlo.

Hmm... its interesting. Are you pronouncing it MARGE-ell-oh or mar-GAL-oh? I like the nn Marlo. It is fun.

I'm saying MAR-guh-loh, actually. That's what it sounded like in the book on tape version we had of Stuart Little. I've never seen the movie and have no idea how they pronunce it in that. :)Array

They pronounce it MAHR-guh-loh in the movie. Finally, someone else has said they like it!! I love the name myself, and I also first heard it from Stuart Little. There's something musical in the syllables, so I think it's perfect for the bird character. I like the nn Maggie for it, or just plain Margalo.

That's about how I'm saying it, I think--just potayto-potahto on the way we're writing out the pronunciation. :)If I didn't absolutely hate Maggie with the force of a thousand fiery burning suns, I'd definitely take into consideration. But I do, lol, so she'd be Margalo and Marlo, maybe Margie or Gal at times. :DArray

I like it - it's not something you'd hear all over the place, which is nice, and I like Marlo as a nickname :)-Kot

Query. What in the name makes it boyish? I'm not seeing any element that strikes me as particularly masculine.Array

I know a girl named Marlo, with a big sister Melanie. I don't really like the name Marlo or Margalo, it's nms, but I think Margalo w/ the nn Marlo is fine if you like it!
