I pronounce Rainer the german way, so 'RYE-NER' and Rayner 'RAY-NER" I like spellings names but I prefer Rainer

I would prefer the spelling Rainer, the y in Rayner irks me. I prefer Rainier (pronounced like Mount Rainier, not like the French way -- wow, it's the only French name I don't like pronounced the French way), but I think I'm pretty much alone on that one.

Personally, I prefer Rainier, after Rainier Maria (both the poet and the band ;). But Rainer and Rayner are both great, too. I like Rayner slightly more.Array

At first I saw it and I was like, Oh no, another trendy name...but it actually has a heritage and a meaning, so now I like it. I like the spelling Rayner because it's not as much a word.
