[Opinions] Lydia
What are your opinions on Lydia? How about the nn Liddy? Do you think it would be fresh and cool to use, or to "old"? TIA:)

I really like this name. Not too keen on the nn Liddy though. I don't find the name old at all. It would be fresh and cool to use for a little girl these days.

I LOVE Lydia, and it's definitely not too old. Lyddie (prefer this spelling) is very cute.

Hi, Leona ~
Lydia has always been on my favorites list. It's popularity in the USA is on the rise, but it hasn't broken into the top 100 yet.
http://www.socialsecurity.gov/cgi-bin/babyname.cgiIt looks as if more and more people are thinking it's fresh and cool and not too old to use.
;-)I'd use it; I love it!

It doesn't make me think "old lady" probably because it has never been rampantly popular for any generation, to my knowledge. It makes me think of the girl in Beetlejuice. A sort of creative, quirky girl. I probably wouldn't use it myself because it doesn't sound "pretty" to me and it isn't really my style, but it would be great on someone else's kid.

Lydia is lovely. It's fairly popular in England (no. 80 something I think), so it's familiar but not overused. It might seem old in the US but I think it's starting to get more popular as an alternative to Olivia.

I love the name Lydia a lot and plan on using it on one of my future daughters. I don't think it needs a nn though and it's not old-fashioned, imo.http://www.GlitterMaker.com/ - Glitter Graphics

I think it would be very fresh and cool. I aboslutely love Lydia, and I don't think I've ever seen it on a child. Liddy is quite cute, but personally I prefer the name without a nn.
