[Opinions] Rune ...
Do you think that Rune (Pronounced ROON), could work in the U.S.?How would it sound to a brother to Mira? or Willow? or Ayla?I've felt like dumping all of my favorite boys names lately, none of them seem right to me.Meanwhile both Mira & Willow seem perfect to me for a girl, and Ayla is still desperately clinging despite it's similarity to my nieces name and it's trendy feel. I'm now absolutely loving Jean Auel's Earth's Children series which only adds more fuel to the fire that is the name Ayla : )On a similar note, what would you suggest as the brother to Mira or to Willow? Feel free to refer to my profile for idea : )Thanks everyone!

I think Rune would work fine in the US prn-wise. The fact that it rhymes with "loon" however, does not work it its favor...Looney Runey, Rune the Loon come to mind and that's without trying. :o) I do love the way it sounds, though. I think that it *could* work, depending on the area where you live and the parents'/parent's and child's personalities. Rune and Willow make an awesome sibset, imo - Rune and Mira, not so much and Rune and Ayla are just way too different stylistically (I think, anyway) to be used as sibs. That being said, Draven and Ayla sound cool together, as well as Draven and Willow. Mira is so sweet-sounding, though, that many of your favorite boys' names just seem to over-power it, Taj, Viven, and Hugh being exceptions. Ayla goes especially well with Bodhi, Hawthorn, Kyan, and Wolfstan. Willow pairs best with Asher, Hawthorn, Stellan, and Dominic.Check Out Blinkyou.com for thousands of custom glitters and layouts

And yet another suggestion for Draven! How funny, usually people don't really care for it : )Yep, Rune & Loon do rhyme, haha. Reminds of the fact that as much as I like Luna, it just makes me think of Tuna, haha.I was thinking about Viven more seriously last night, I do like it, and it has the added bonus of being a family name. But then, the same goes for Hugh : )I thought about Ayla & Kyan. Of course then my family would have an Ella & an Ayla, and a Ci'Ann (KY-ann) & a Kyan, haha, how confusing.Hmm, I like that both Ayla & Wolfstan have literary associations for me.Willow & Hawthorn may be overkill, haha. And yet, it's cute. And do like Willow with Asher, Stellan and Dominic : )Thank you Korrine!

YES.*How would it sound to a brother to Mira? or Willow? or Ayla?*
Good with any. Most predictably with Willow.I do not think Ayla sounds trendy (although it does sound "modern") and I don't think it's a problem that your niece is Ella.
Willow & Rune
Mira & Draven
Ayla & Vincent

Another suggestion for Draven! How surprising : )Thanks for your response Mirfak! I'm glad to hear that you don't think that Ella & Ayla would be a problem.

I immedietly think of this really sad picture book called "Goodbye Rune" by Marit Kaldhol. The pictures are amazing and the story is heart wrenching. It's about a girl called Sara and her best friend Rune who go to the lake and Rune drowns. The book is about how Sara copes with saying goodbye to her best friend. I pronounce Rune ROO-ne though, I prefer it that way.
Rune is one of the names I really like since I read it in a book as a child.
Mira, Willow and Rune would be very nice, I like all three names. I'm not that keen on Ayla. For boys, what about Fredrik, Frances (I'm on the F- trip right now ;-) ), Ole or of your list, Laszlo and Hugh?Great name style!

I just found that book on Amazon shortly before you posted about it, and I must say it's thrown me off of the name Rune a bit.Thank you for your response : )

Mira and Draven. That's really all I have to say on the matter of siblings.Mira Ruth and Draven Hugh and all shall live happily ever after. ;)I like Rune, on either sex, actually--I think it's cool. It'd work fine in America; people name their kids Ruger, and in comparison, Rune sounds positively friendly. I would approve of Mira and Rune (rather, Mira and Draven and Rune, which I keep accidentally spelling as Roon) most of all, though they all sound nice together.I still love Willow. I dislike Auel, which means that Ayla unfortunately has the opposite effect on me. I'll see if I can think of other brothers for Mira and Willow, but for now, my answer is Draven. You got me hooked, and now you have to deal with the consequences, Kerri-me-love. ;)Array

Haha, yep I've really got Draven stuck in your head now : )As much as I love it, I'm still not sure about using it.Aw, it's a shame you dislike Auel. I liked the first two books so much that I went out and bought the next 3 this weekend, haha : )Thank you Amy dear!
