I would rather see Esmeralda than Emerald. It seems sort of flouncy and childish to me (maybe it's my Wizard of Oz association). Esmeralda also has cuter NN like Esme, Mera, Alda (hehe).
Wit has truth in it; wisecracking is simply calisthenics with words.
