[Facts] Spelling of a Dutch name
There's a girl in my class who's of Dutch background, and she has a really pretty name, IMO. I have no idea how to spell it (and thus can't find out anything about it!) and I wonder if anyone on here does. She pronounces it MAHTS-yah. TIA!

I'm guessing
Maartje?
- She said he made a racial slur!
- Racial? She is Swedish!
- Maybe he called her Meatball.
"I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I’ve decided to be spontaneous."

Thank you both!
That's a pretty good guess :)
In that name the R isn't always pronounced as a rolling R. That would lead to the pronouciation MAHTS-yah
Other possibilities:
Martje (form of Martin)
Matsje (from either: Martin, Matthew, Mathilde,
Maatje (form of Martin)
But these are less likely, because they're not commonly used, Maartje is used way more often.
