[Opinions] Kalani
I was wondering what everyone thought about the name Kalani for a boy? In my area unfortunately there quite a few girl Kalani / Calani's (including my next door neighbour) But I have always loved Hawaiian names and Kalani means the heavens/sky which is gorgeous.Questions:
Do you like Kalani? What would be a nice name for a brother & sister for Kalani?Middle names?I thought about maybe:
Kalani, Ocean & Summer (all boys)
Kalani, Ocean & Zara
Kalani, Ocean & Leila (probably my fave)Middle names:
Kalani Jasper
Kalani Lucian
Kalani Felix
Kalani Hugo
Kalani AmbrosePhotobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I think that first sibset borders on child abuse. I do like Kalani though. I love Hawaiian names as well, but I'd never use them.

I really like this name. Actually I really like a lot of Hawaiian names! I do prefer it for a girl though, sorry. It reminds me of the names Lani and Leilani, which are both feminine. I like Maile for a sister to Kalani and either Ikaia or Makaio for a brother, that's if you want all Hawaiian names. Otherwise I like Rosa for a sister or Oscar for a brother. I like Kalani Jasper and Kalani Felix.

I like Kalani for a boy or girl; preferably a boy though. I actually had two kids in my third grade class called Celani(pr. the same as Kalani) and Kelana (they weren't related - they actually didn't like each other AT ALL). Kalani, Ocean and Summer (all boys) - I love it! As a sister to Kalani, I also like Zara and Leila. With the middle names I like:
Kalani JasperAt the moment I cannot think of any suggestions worthy of posting, but maybe I'll think of something later!

Kalani is nms on either sex as I'm not a big fan of Hawaiian names. Of the Kalani + mns you listed I like Kalani Felix and Kalani Ambrose the best.Of the sibsets you listed I like Kalani, Ocean and Leila the best too. I have a hard time picturing a male Summer (everyone I've met has been female) and Zara, for reasons I can't pinpoint, just doesn't fit in as well as Leila with Kalani and Ocean.Oh, and I read your response to Isla (I think) about viewing Ocean as a male name versus a female name. For what it's worth I view Ocean as 100% unisex.

Haha, that's great! For some reason I can really picture you with a Kai. At one point I remember thinking that I could see you with sons named Kai & Taj : )Lani makes a cute nickname.I never actually left the boards, I've been here all along. I guess I haven't posted as much though, sometimes I'll read a message then decide I'll respond to it later, which I then often forget to do, haha.

For ages I loved both Kai & Taj because both of them are awesome surfing names (two famous surfers are Kalani Robb & Taj Burrow).
I also love Kai & Keoni, I did have a sib set of Kai, Taj & Zahn (Zahn Foxton is a great bodyboarder)Since the weather is starting to pick up most likely my boys names will become more 'summery' so Kai, Kalani, Ocean, Taj and Sunny may be seen more often.. :PDamn pity that Kai is getting popular :(Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I have never heard of Kalani, but I think it sounds nice. The meaning makes it sound like more of a girl's name, IMO. Also, I think Ocean and Summer would do better as girl's names as well. Leila works nice in a sibset with Kalani. I really don't like any of your middle names, I think you need a Hawaiian or Islander middle name to go with the first.

I'm not crazy about it for either gender, sorry. It does fit well into all 3 of those sibsets (though with the first set they may often get confused for girls - maybe if they had mn's that made their sex a little clearer?).

Yeah, I have a thing for 'feminine' boys names. I really love Sunny and Summer on boys.. my poor sons!
I forget that not everyone see's names as male. I always assume Kalani & Ocean are boys names. Im quite surprised that so many people think that Ocean is feminine... I find it quite masculine!*back to the drawing board*Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
