I have been seeing this name a little on several boards. It was mentioned to me as a possible full name for the nn Jo. However, I am not sure if I like it for a few reasons, one mainly is because I am not certain I am pronouncing it right. Second, the trendy -lyn ending is a turn off. WDYT of Jocelyn and maybe Jo as a nn?
Any other names you can think of?
(Background included in my previous post - I love the nn Jo, but there is one problem, my dad, who I detest and I cant wait until he is forever out of my life. I love Josephine, but my dad's mn is Joseph and Josephine reminds me of him. Jolene was one I liked and worked, but my boyfriend crossed off the list. So what names that are not too close to Joseph, that could have the nn Jo?)

This is my name, so I like it. :D
My nickname is Joey, Jo would work as a nickname too though. My mother is British and says my name "JAHS-uh-lyn". My dad, who is from New York, says "JOSS-lyn". My whole life they've never said it the same way.
My other favorite "Jo-" name is Johanna. Pronounced "JO-hahn-ah" as opposed to Joanna ("JO-anna").

I've always heard it pronounced JAHS-uh-lin or JAHS-ih-lin. The first syllable is like Joplin as in Janis. I don't see why Jo couldn't be a nn for it as J-O are the first two letters of it. It wouldn't be my first thought as a nn but it's not so out there it's unimaginable. My cousin's daughter is named Jocelyn and her nn is Joss.
I was going to link you to a list of "Jo" names on BtN but I see someone else has done that. I'm not a fan of Jo names myself but Jocasta and Josette would be my favorites. Marjolaine and possibly Marjorie might be possibilities as well.

I used to know a girl named this, she pronounced it joss-lyn. I am really not a fan of it, I don't think it has a nice sound at all.

I love Jocelyn. Jo as a nn of Jocelyn is fine. I pronounce it as "JOS-u-lin", not "JAHS-u-lin" like it says here - I think that's just an accent thing as JAHS-u-lin sounds American English to me.
What about Jocasta and Jolanda?

I personally love Jocelyn. It used to be my #1 fave girl name. It's still one of my faves, but not #1.
