I like these spellings:
Allie [best]
Ali
Ally
AlliAny others I really don't like. I think if you spell it Ally or Allie then it works for a first name alone. I used to think Allie was only from the name Allison but here's others I know:Alexandra
Alexis
Alyse

I like Ally the best, but only as a nn. Here are some fns that could use the nn "Ally" (asterisk signifies favorites.)Allison*
Alexandra
Alice
Alyssa*
Alexis

I don't really care for it as a NN, so I'm definitely not a fan as a full name. It's too cutesy. If I had to pick a spelling, I'd say either Ally or Allie, but never Allye, which just looks like a typo, not Alley, which has unsavory connotations. For possible names, I suggest running a search with *all*
I'd copy/paste the results, but it always drops the second asterisk.

I prefer the spelling Ally. I suppose it could stand alone, but it would be better as a nickname for something. DLB had a fair-sized list.

I like Alison nn Ally...and I hate it when people let such nn-y names stand alone. I prefer classic full names to any nn, but I am not against using the nn, just throwing out the full name all together~~Kris~~

I can't stand Ally. It's so boring, and it's definitely not a full name IMO.
Even as a NN though, it's far too cutesy and over done.

I like either Ally or Allie, either way is fine. I don't really like it on it's own, but I love it as a nickname for Allison or Alison.
Just a dream, just an ordinary dream...
as I wake in bed...
and the boy, that boy, that ordinary boy
or was it all in my head?
Did he ask if I would come along?
It all seemed so real.
But as I looked to the door
I saw that boy looking there with a deal.

The Ally and Alley spellings bother me because they are words. Allie is the 'best' imo, but I only like it as a nn, and even then it's not a favorite at all.

I actually like Ally but none of the full names that it's a NN for. I think it could stand alone.

I like the spellings Allie & Ally. It doesn't stand on its own too well, though. A little too cutesy for my taste. I really like it as a NN for Alexandra, Alexandria, & Allison.

I dislike them all. Can't help but find Allie (I prefer the spelling to the others) utterly boring, even as a mere NN, and I think it would be too cutesy to stand on its own. However, I do like these names that could have the NN Allie:Alessandra
Alice
Aliena
Alissa
Alessa
Alessia
Alejandra
Alicia
Alondra
Alexandra
Alcyone
Alecto
Alcippe
Alethea
Allegra
Allegria
