Mara is a nice name and I think that the name would age well. It works well for both children and adults. Personally, the only Maras who I have met or heard about have all pronounced their name MAR-a rather than MAIR-a (rhyming with Sarah). I prefer MAR-a to MAIR-a myself.
Mara Johanna, Mara Joan, and Mara Margaret are nms. How about Mara Joanne, Mara Elise, or Mara Elizabeth / Elisabeth?
BTW I love the name Marie as a first name, but it seems bland since it's so overused as a middle name. I would go with Mara.
