I'm not necessarily a fan. It's one of those names that's turned into an irreversible joke for me. It has too many unserious connotations for me to really measure its quality as a real person's name. For one it kind of strikes me as a "generic country singer" kind of thing. And I used to have a hamster named
Loretta, and after that it brings to mind
Monty Python's Life of
Brian and
Eric Idle's line "I want to be a woman. I want to be called
Loretta."
