[Opinions] Melinda?
What do you all think of the name Melinda? I think I've completely fallen in love with it. The only thing, I don't like any potential nicknames. Hmmm.

A dear friend of mine is named Melinda. She doesn't use a nickname although her mom calls her Mindy Mae.Her mom's name is Linda Mae, her name is Melinda Mae and her daughter's name is Lindsay Mae. I thought the tradition was nice.

Its a nicer different long version of the nn Mel, which are quite common around my region. Mel's as in Melanies and Melissa's and a few Melody's and Mallory's all get the same nickname, too common."What's in a name? Cute. It's not one of my absolute favorites, but I can appreciate it. I've only met one Melinda ever, to my memory. (Edited to add that I agree with the general sentiment that it doesn't need a nickname, nor will it necessarily be given one automatically). I think Mindy is kind of sweet, but maybe a bit dated, though I can't think of to what decade particularly. Some other nicknames might be:Lindy
Linda
Linnie
MelOr maybe something only vaguely connected, maybe by a letter or two, like:Lili
Mame
Mamie
Mimi
Dede
Didi
Mies
Mina
Minnie
Minna
Ili
Ildi
Indy
Liddy
Mette
Millie

Melinda is a pretty name. I don't think that it needs a nickname. I used to know a girl named Malinda (pronounced just like Melinda) and she did not go by a nickname (at least not to my knowledge).

This is my mom's name and she loves it. She abhors any nicknames and has never had one. She and her sisters have quite unusual names for their era. (1940s)Annette Marie
