I'm not familiar with "The Joy Luck Club", so of course I've never known that. I did a Wikipedia search, to see what's all about and I sort of know why I haven't heard about this novel. It's because it's about a Chinese-American immigrant family, so it doesn't have any greater merit, by context, for being really known here in Denmark.
I could have heard about it, but then only by the Danish title, which could have been twisted in translation. They often do that so you get easily confused and all.
