Wdyt of Jory? I think it would be a good alternative to George, which is a popular first and middle name in my family. Is it too annoying to pronounce? Anything else? Thanks :)

I'm kind of meh on it. It's what I call my friend Jordan as a joke NN. I prefer George.

I do know a little girl with this name and if I had to guess I would think it was a girl's name. But it doesn't SOUND overly feminine. I think it would be nice with a really masculine middle name.

I've only ever seen it as a female name (short for Marjory), so it seems kinda squicky as a guy's name to me. Either that, or it seems English, which is okay on an English person but kind of phoney on an American guy. I will, however, accept almost ANY name as an alternative to the awful George.

I know a girl named Jory, but I don't know any boys with the name. I also know a girl named Jorin (although I am not sure if that is the spelling or not).

It is my great-great-great grandfather's mn- he was Benjamin Jory Hocking. That side of my family is Cornish, and I really like family history so I like the name :p
It is a good alternative to George IMO

There was a girl in my high school named Joree, so I immediately think of her. She's not a good association.

Then, I remember the VC Andrews series that starts with Flowers in the Attic. The main character ends up having a son Janus "Jory." Those books are the epitome of tacky (fun, but tacky), so that's not all that great an association, either.

However, if you don't have that baggage, I think Jory could be a handsome choice.

I don't like it at all, probably because I really like George. I guess it'd be okay as a mn, but it just seems too informal. (Also, it reminds me of Geordi LaForge from Star Trek.)

The only person that I have ever seen this name on was female, so I dont know if that would throw you off at all. I see it as a feminine name. Im also not too much a fan of it.
