[Opinions] Hermione
Hermione is the name of one of the major characters in the book I'm reading. (No, it's not Harry Potter.)What does everyone think of it?
Would you actually use it?

I'd have to say no. I'm a hudge HP fan, but I would never use this name. With nicknames like hermy, or Herme, I think not. Top ten nameEmma, Emily, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Catherine, Erika, Chealsea, Jennifer, Jessica, Jocelyn.

I adore the name, and wish I had the cajones to use it. But I don't. I looooove Harry Potter, and I know everyone would think the baby was named after the character.
I've been thinking about Penelope a lot, and I would actually use it. It has the same feel as Hermione, without the HP connection.
I would love to see Hermione on someone else's child, though.

I really like Hermione. I haven't read any Harry Potter books, so the association isn't that strong in my mind. I think more of the actress Hermione Norris, whom I love :-)_____________________________________________________________________Elinor

I find it quite ugly. No, I wouldn't use it.

It's lovely. Beautiful, sophistocated, and unusual, but not freakishly weird. Nowadays a bit too heavily associated with the Harry Potter character, but still definitely usable.

I think its lovely, I wasn't so keen on it before Harry Potter, but as I was reading the name in the book more and more it grew on me (because i became used to saying it etc.)~*~*~ BeX ~*~*~

I think Hermione is a nice name, but I think for most people the name is VERY linked to Harry Potter.

I think Hermione is okay. I wouldn't use it, simply because I don't like it enough to, but I see no reason why other people shouldn't use it.

Actually, I immediately think of "Letter to Hermione" by David Bowie--a great song, if sad. Hermione Granger is a secondary thought. It's fine for someone else's daughter, and I'd love to meet one, but I'd never consider it myself.Array

I have liked the name Hermione for years but would be more likely to use it as a middle name rather than a first

Absolutely! Hermione is much more than a Harry Potter character, although I'm happy the series has resurrected this classic.Hermione Imogen (or Imogen Hermione) is my favorite Hermione combination.

Lovely combo.

I love the name Hermione and would love to use it on a child. I'd only hesitate because of the whole Harry Potter thing, everyone would ask her if she was named after the character, and she most certainly would not be.

I've always loved the name Hermione and would really be delighted to see it used. I've definitely thought about using it, as it's on my short list of names.

I like the name, and I would use it if not for the HP character. (There is a Hermione who is the daughter of Helen of Troy).
