Wdyt of Lewis? Could a little boy pull it off, or is it too "old man" sounding?
I'd also consider using it as a mn... a combo that I like right now is James Lewis. If you have any other suggestions, fn or mn, please let me know. thanks :)
P.S. I prefer the spelling Lewis over Louis for some reason.

I dislike it, it's so popular here and sounds and looks ugly IMO. I prefer Louis pr: 'Lou-ee'

I really don't like Lewis, it just sounds dorky. For a middle name its ok. I much prefer Louis (Lou-ee)

I'm just the opposite--I prefer Louis over Lewis. :-) I always see the "lew" in Lewis and connect it to "lewd."
I like Louis, though. It's a bit old mannish, but if I was to use it as a baby's name then it'd change my connotation. If you're worried about how well it works in that respect then using it as a middle name is perfect. It doesn't sound old mannish to me as a middle name; rather it's just like part of a name. Like Howard is pretty dated, but when I stick it into a combo I like (William Howard--I quite like it) I think it sounds great.

Actually, I don't even pronounce Lewis (loo is) and Louis (loo ee) the same way. I much prefer Luis (loo is / lwees), which I love, though I'm biased since it's my grandpa's name :-)

One of my cats is Lewis (my husband is a big Lewis & Clark fan), and everybody thinks he's Louis, or even worse, Louise or other female versions. It bugs me because I agree - the Lewis spelling is much nicer.
I don't think it has an old man image at all, I think it would be very nice on a little boy, and it would stay nice as he grew older.
Can't pull any names out of my hat at the moment, but I think it'd be as good a a MN. Just think it'd be extra nice as a FN, because I can't recall last time I met a Lewis ( apart from the cat, and my husband keeps telling me that one does not meet animals.)
