I adore Nathaniel, however avoid it because I can't stand Nathan or Nate : (
And I do think it will be difficult to keep people from wanting to call Nathaniel by either Nathan or Nate. If you make sure that the only nickname he considers is Nat from an early age, than he can make sure to correct people himself : )
