Never heard of Padma before (Pad-mah or Pod-mah) but I looked it up. It's Sanskrit for "lotus" and another name for the goddess Lakshmi. I actually knew a girl named Lakshmi, and I have to say that even though I don't love Padma, I definitely prefer it to Lakshmi.
