What do you think of Agatha and could it be really used on a girl nowadays?

It's a path not often trod, but yes, I think Agatha would be fine. If Ivy, Lillian and Matilda can come back, so can Agatha. The pool of 'useable' names is getting wider all the time._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

I adore Agatha, especially with the nn Aggie. I also like the similar-sounding Agnes.
My boyfriend hates Agatha, he's says it's old-fashioned and not suitable for a little girl, but it's on my favourites list anyway!

I think it's awful, sorry. This is one of those names that this board in particular seems to like, but I think the real world would hate. For me it's just overall very musty and old lady sounding, and the "ag" sound that makes me think of a hag or haggard, doesn't help that image.

I love Agatha and don't see why it couldn't be used nowadays. When I was younger one of our neighbours had a daughter called Agatha. I don't really like Aggie as a NN(to witch like) but there are other nicknames available.

I like Agatha, and think it would be refreshing to hear on a baby.
However, I've known only one Agatha and she pronounced it ah-GOTH-ah. Just food for thought.

It could totally be used on a girl of today. I think it's a darling name that's ready for a revival.

I like Agatha, but I tend to think of Agatha Christie or Agate. Not necessarily bad associations. I think it can be used on a child today, and a nickname could apply if people find it too "mature" for a baby or small child.
Nicknames like:Aggie
Thandy
Agateetc.
