[Opinions] Evangeline
I really want to use that name now.
I see it almost everyday on the board, and I've noticed that it isn't even popular on the charts.
I think it has a wonderful meaning and sound and sound be shortened to some very wonderful nicknames.
But, I can't get my partner in crime to agree on it.
When I suggest it he just say "nah". And when I say "why" he just says "too long".
I suggested a shorter nn like Eve and he just said "too short".
But, he says it's a pretty name. I just can't get him to like it. But it was like that with Grey. At first he said NO because GRey wasn't a name. Then, he said it was too short. But, after a while he was suggesting it and now won't stop.
So, what kind of girl do you picture with the name Evangeline or Evangelina?

Oh, you're gonna love this. :o)
My 4 yo DD has a really hard time saying her r's and l's. She loves the name Evangeline (she keeps asking when her baby sister is going to come; Daddy told her that it's a busy time & babies are on back-order, lol), but it always comes out "Evangewa." Taking that & translating it back, I suggest Evangela. It's shorter than Evangeline / Evangelina, but still retains the charm of the longer name. Barring that, I'm actually kind of liking Evangelie, too, but it may be too cutesy for your taste, especially since Evangeline / Evangelina is so elegant.

Evangeline. It's one of my top names. In fact, I'm thinking about using Evangeline Rose one day.
I think Evangeline is a beautiful, smart, sweet girl. Maybe kind of quiet. I love this name!-I'm kind of reminded of Evangeline from One Life to Live.
Lovin' Lily Rose, Rose Maria, Alexandria Summer, and Evangeline Rose for girls. For guys: Derrick James, Scott Evan, Alan Shane, and Adam Shane

I adore Evangeline, but nobody in my family likes it either. I love then nn Evie.

I love Evangeline. It's beautiful. I like it much better than Evangelina, which just seems to go on forever.

Line (LEEN)
Lina (LEEN-ah)

I picture it for any age, but with a few constants. She has raven hair and green eyes.

If I had a copy of it...
I'd give you the description of the girl Evangeline in William Stafford's "The Osage Orange Tree." It's a short story--you should probably go and read it sometime. It describes her as very poor, her feet as being dusty and bare, so on and so forth. But she's pretty, and the narrator has a thing for her.
I read the story way back in eighth grade, about seven years ago, and that's when I started loving Evangeline (with the LINE ending, please, not LEEN). It always sounded a bit countrified and rural in a really pleasing way to me, and it was pretty much unknown.
That's not so anymore, and I have to admit, it's really lost its shine to me. I never expected Evangeline to start sounding faux-boho...but it has.
I'll always like Evangeline, a bit. I'm just really sick of hearing about it right now, I've decided.

I want to be be more like a river--
Less like a wall--
Not trying to hold back these feelings at all.
A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.
