The why is the same for both of my choices: I like this name better than the other one.Mercedes - I like the name Mercedes and I don't like the name Edmond especially with the nn Eddy. This choice was a bit like apples and oranges though since I'm not used to picking between names of opposite sex.Valerie - This was a tough one. I really don't like either name. I opted for Valerie since it has more nn options.I doubt that 98% of the population (heh, I originally typed "poopulation") would know these were couples, however I too apply the "no romantic couples" rule and applaud you for not ignoring the rule just because the couples aren't as obvious as Romeo and Juliet.
