[Opinions] Re: Euphemia / Effie
I adore the name Effie. I first came across it in a book about Victorian women and fell in love with it. I think it makes a great nn for Euphemia, but strangely enough I prefer it on its own. It is also a Scottish girl's name (Oighrig) meaning "new speckled one." I also confess a love for the name Ginger. Those two soft "g" sounds followed by an "r" sound are irrestistible. I know Ginger doesn't have the best reputation with most people so I was thrilled to read it could be a nn for Virginia. Virginia is one of those over-looked treasures, in my opinion. Love Virginia, nn Ginger. Euphemia Alice, nn Effie
