[Opinions] Bree
Can Bree stand on it's own? If not, what are some names that would have the nn Bree besides Breanna, Brianna, and Brielle? TIA!

I have a grudge against the name Bree. My ex-fiance's sister was named Sabrina, NN Bree. SO, not a fan of the name. I don't think Bree can stand alone as a fn anyway.

I suppose it can stand on its own. Neither Brianna nor Brielle is really in use where I live - but then again, neither is Bree.I'd never heard the name Bree till Desperate Housewives, and I think it's her full name, isn't it? In Transamerica which I saw the other day, it was short for Sabrina, which I like.

I don't think it could stand alone. I don't like it - it reminds me of the horse in The Horse and His Boy.

It can but personally I prefer it as a nn for Breanna or Breeony.

YES mI love Bree on its own the best. That is my true guilty pleasure. I love it again, esp because of desperate housewives. It's my fav name of all the women.

I like it on its own, it's a bit of a guilty pleasure for me.
I worked with a girl last year whose name was Aubriana and she went by Bri (Bree). There's also Brianne, Aubrey, and a personal favorite of mine, Brisa. I know it's not in the database, but it means "breeze" in Spanish and I've seen it used a couple of times.

yes [m]I onky prefer it on a boy though. Due to the Chronicles of Narnia book The Horse and His Boy.The horse is named Bree, and it's male. lol.

Bree is also the town in Middle-Earth where Barliman Butterbur keeps The Prancing Pony.

Too "cheesy" for me :-/It does not stand well on its own, imo, and I also don't care for any "bri" names, except Sabrina but I definitely wouldn't use Bree as a nn, personally. (BTW, Sabrina nn Bree is the name of Felicity Huffman's character in "Transamerica")

Ouch :POh, how I love good puns. Unfortunately, most puns are not good. :)

I'm the queen of bad puns. Actually, I don't think I've ever run across a good pun. :b

My pun mentality is that they're so bad they're good. ;)

I have heard of Bree used on its own, but it reminds me of Brie (the cheese). Names that haven't already been suggested:
Bria
Brigitta / Brigita

Breda
Cambria
Brittany

I think it can stand on it's own. It always makes me think of Brie cheese though.

I think Bree can stand on its own, especially now with its use on Desperate Housewives. As far as NNs go, I don't see why anything with the BREE sound in it couldn't work, like Aubrey or Sabrina, or even something with a soft BR sound, like Brigid.

Bryony
Breeshey
Berenice
