I like Mariella, its really pretty and unusual. I love Ella because it reminds me of the brilliant Ella Fitzgerald, but it is quite common these days. I prefer Ellie, or Marie

Mariella feels a bit too frilly for my taste. I'd prefer Mariel.

I love Mariella (and Marielle, and Mariette, and Marietta, too ;), but Ella is so tired. Mari, Melly, Mamie, etc, would be far more interesting.

Mariella sounds too contrived; I would prefer Marielle, or even better, Muriel / Miriel(le). It seems like the -a just had to get stuck on the end to facilitate the omgsocute NN Ella, which I am completely over. Sorry.

I like Marielle much better. It doesn't need nn but Mari and Elle work great for it.
