[Opinions] Michael
I know Michael is considered by most to be a boys' name, but I'm just curious what everyone thinks of it as a girls' name.I can think of two actresses with the name Michael--Michael Learned, who played Olivia Walton on the 1970s CBS drama "The Waltons", and Michael Michele, who played a doctor on NBC's drama "ER".I'm not entirely sure what I think of it as a girls' name. I've always liked it as a boys' name, though I wouldn't use it, since I have a cousin named Michael. It's grown on me a lot for a girl, especially since I'm a fan of Michael Learned, but I don't think I'd use it because of its association as a boys' name. WDYT?

Ir could possibly work as a girl's name but I'd leave it alone as a boy's name

It's hideous on a girl. It's a BOY'S name. Use Michaela / Mikaela / Micaela / Michelle.

I know it's been used as a girl's name sparsely in the past, and I actually don't hate it, but because Michael is SUCH a popular male name, it seems cruel to use it for a girl. She'll always, always be mistaken for a male in name only. At least with Taylor or Peyton there's some question, but not with Michael, really. Just setting her up for some confusion. The only female Michael I've ever actually met was a little girl (probably in her early 20s now) named Ann Michael, who went by both names, and was named after her father.

I can see the appeal. I remember in the TV miniseries The 60s, Julia Stiles character named her daughter Michael Rainbow. I have known a girl named Brett and a girl named Kevyn and it was charming on both, so I can see Michael working on a girl. I still would be slightly partial to Michaela if it wasn't for all the popular Kre8tive mispellings (McKayla, Mikala, etc.)

To me Michael is strictly a male name and can't picture it used otherwise.

I don't like it as a boys' name, let alone a girl. But if it is used on a girl, I prefer Michal.

Totally not ok fro a girl and overused for a boy, so I'm not a fan of it. It's ok as an honouring mn, but other than that I'm not excited about it.
