I don't really like the name Winifred, but Winnie is a cute nn

I think it makes a lovely nn for Winifred (which is a gorgeous name).

I actually prefer and like Winifred. I would never use it though. The nn Winnie just reminds me of Winnie the Pooh... of which i am not a huge fan.

I love it but I'm a huge "Winnie the Pooh" fan so I think it would be quite cheesy if I used it for a child. :b It could be an option for a pet for me in the future, though. :)
BTW, I like Winnie only as a nn for Winifred. ETA: The character Winnie on the 80s/90s show "The Wonder Years" was Gwendolyn, I believe. Winnie also makes a nice nn for Gwendolyn, but I think I prefer Gwen, and I'd keep Winnie for Winifred. It is another option, though.

I rather like Winnie. It'd be quirky and different these days. Winifred is an acquired taste, that's for sure, but it's one that I *have* acquired recently. Nice.

I'm not fond of Winifred it seems too old fashioned for me. I'll have to agree with the rest of you it also makes me think of Winnie the Pooh.

I love it as a nn for Winona.

Winifred is nice but I dont like Winnie, associations with the bear and the witch aside it also sounds like the noise a horse makes.

I think it's adorable. i used to have a hard time getting past the "Winnie the Pooh" association, but now it doesn't really occur to me. If I ever named a child Winifred (which I would, because I love it) I'd certainly call her Winnie on occasion.

I never really liked Winnie and I don't like the "Fred" in "Winifred". I do like Whitney thought!

first thought Winnie the pooh. I don't, however, like Winnie as a name. I don't like Winifred. I remember when my aunt told me that her mn was Winifred and I (and my siblings) couldn't help laughing.By the way I was about 7 at the time.
