[Facts] the name Stancel
What is the correct meaning? This is my name, it is a male name, and it is European. Now I am confused because I posted here before and someone with Stancel as their last name told me it comes from the Romanian word "stanca" which means "rock" or "cliff". BUT I also was doing research on it and someone else on another site said it comes from the name of a obscure village in England named Stancil which means "stone chamber" or something. Someone please help.

the firstname (and also surname) Stancel is of English origin. Off course there is a Romanian surname Stancel, but this is not related, as Stancel is only used as a surname in Romania and totally not as a firstname. Moreover, there are websites with plausible explanations of this name, all concluding that it is from that English village and the information you got from this person might etymologically be true, but when it comes to the relation it is not, just a coincidence.
