[Opinions] Jesminder
I loved this name the minute i saw 'Bend it like Beckham'. I know people will automatically associate it with the film, but i still really really like it. The name Jessica has always been on my favourite list but I wouldn't use it as it's my best friend's name and also a bit to popular for me. But i had never even heard of Jesminder before the film, and i could still use the nn Jess so in a way it's an answer to both the problems i had with Jessica. I would, however, be more inclined to spell it Jesminda, but that's just me.
So, wdyto Jesminder/Jesminda?

It's nms. We've discussed it on here before and dicided that before we'd use it we'd have to have Indian in our ethnic backgrund, so if you do, go ahead and use it. I don't care; it's not me that has to deal with it.Kelclaire

I don't like it... mIt sort of sounds like, "Just a reminder." That's just my opinion.

It seems waay to contrived, and it seems like it doesnt take the dated-ness from Jessica away either.

I believe it's actually Jasminder (though the nick is Jess) and it's apparently an Indian name. (like the actress's name, Parminder) I like it, but I'd be hesitant to use it unless my daughter's father was from an Indian background. - chazda

I agreeIts an Indian name. I really can't see it on some one else, other than an Indian (just liek w/ Alessandra, Isabel, and Olga...It only works when you have the ethnicity)Lala

I've always assumed that Jesminder / Jasminder is a combination of the word/name Jasmine with the name of the god Indra (like Rupinder, Harinder, etc.), so the -inder spelling is the only one that I would use- it would seem disrespectful otherwise, IMO. It's a very pretty name, though, and definitely better than Jessica.ShannonEdited to clarify about -inder.

I heard it was Jesminda so I'm in favour with Jesminda over Jesminder, but I love that name from Bend it like Beckham, its such a good movie and the name is such a beautiful name, then the only thought that comes to mind is, what does it mean, is it a real name. I am supposing it is a real name, just maybe I am not sure of its origin. But Jesminda sounds like a very pretty name, I love it!
