I like it quite a bit actually - it's pretty. I probably wouldn't use it though.
I think it is a beautiful name, however, If I were going to use it I would use the nn Ginger. I like that nn. :)
I really dislike names that are also states/major cities. Especially if you live in the States. When a child learns their states, their is major teasing involved. Kids will find any connection with the name to use as a teasing factor (ex - my name is Kristina, and during an art lesson we learned about a painting that had Christina in the title of the work, and everyone in the class had to make a big deal out of it, as if I was the girl in the painting).
Not to mention, I can only think of the state when I hear Virginia (and as LMS said, it is close to vagina

I adore it. It's so beautiful and classic and everything I love in a name. Plus, it has many cute nicknames. Perfect.
I really want to like Virginia because it is a name that I *should* like. I just think Virginia would be really difficult to live down, you know, the whole 'virgin' thing. Not only that, but I see vagina in Virginia. In fact, I recently read a novel where the main character was Virginia and I can't tell you how many times I saw vagina. Weird, I know.
It's growing on me.
I've always wanted to like it because it's so classy and strong (sort of like Margaret--"beautiful" isn't the first thing that comes to mind about it for me, but there are a host of other positive adjectives that do). But the sound didn't appeal to me very much. Now that I've met a few women with this name who have left good impressions on me, I'm getting used to associating it with real people. And when my positive associations go up, so tends to my liking of a name's aesthetics. :-)
So I'd have to say that now I like it more than not. I'm not sure if it would make my own personal favorite list (though you never know, I suppose) but I'd be quite pleased to see someone else use it.

I probably wouldn't chose it because of the teasing issues. It's not the worst, but there are other names I like just as much that don't carry that baggage.
It's on Dh's and mines long list. I use to hate it now I like it well enough.
Umm....
I hate to say this, but every Virginia I have known has been made fun of in grade school by all the boys who find it funny to call her Vagina. That totally puts me off of the name because I would hate to have my child made fun of like that. Otherwise, without that association it seems very classic.

I like it a lot. The meaning isn't very appealing. I don't usually care much about meanings but this one's is sorta obvious. Still, it's really classic and pretty and respectable.
