[Opinions] Winnie
Just recently, I fell in love with this name! I disliked it until I actually met a little girl named Winnie. She was adorable and the name suited her. I don't think I would use it as a complete first name and I don't LOVE Winifred. Are there any other names you can think of that might work with Winnie as a nickname? Or maybe you could try to convince me how great Winifred is? Haha, good luck with that one.

You could use it as a nn for Winona, my personal favorite "win" name. Or try one of the following:Winter
Edwina
Jaswinder
Olwin
Rowina

Winnie is adorable. Winifred is one of my favourite names. All I can think of are Winter, Rowena / Rowina (I prefer the former), Winona, and Edwina. Oh, and Jaswinder (which IMO is gorgeous), if you like Indian names.

Winnie the Pooh?I don't like it. It makes me think of Winnie the Pooh.

I love the nickname Winnie, but I also have trouble finding a good full name to fit it. Maybe Winona, Gwendolyn, or Willow?

Winnie is so cute and quirky, but I have one problem with it. I currently know 4 dogs named Winnie, and one of them is a pug that my family dog-sits very frequently! Now every time I hear the name Winnie, I think of a wrinkly little pug face! It's very cute, though.I agree with you...Winifred is not the best. I guess a lot of the Welsh names that end in -wyn or -wen (Bronwyn/Bronwen, Mairwen, etc.) could have Winnie as a nickname.

I love Winifred and Winnie. And look! Winifred looks beautiful when you search it on Google: http://member.melbpc.org.au/~perkwhit/photos%20for%20photo%20gallery/winifred%20dunne.jpgI also love Guinnevere nn Winnie. And if neither of those are quite your style, you could always do Gwendolyn / Gwendolen nn Winnie (which I also like). Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years was a Gwendolyn Cooper in full: http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e187/hiiiimjamie/kevin-arnold-winnie-cooper.jpgArray

Wasn't the "Winnie" on the Wonder Years character's full name Gwendolyn?
