[Opinions] Lorelei
What do you think of the name Lorelei? It's really been growing on me lately. What nn would you use?

I love this name! I absolutely hate girl names b/c I can never find any that I truly love! I have 5 names on my girl list that I love, and this is one of 'em. I wouldn't use a nn for it though. I haven't seen any nn's I'd like for it.
I would use the nickname Rory. I know that's kind of far fetched but the name Lorelei (from where I've heard it) is on a TV show called Gilmore Girls. Her daughter is named Lorelei but they call her Rory.
I like it :)
Rory, for sure, as a nn.

I think it's okay...a little too frilly for my tastes. I wouldnt use a nickname.
I'm not too fond of it myself. It think it sounds too much like a hyphenated name (Mary-Kate, Minnie-Sue....etc.) to be too close to comfort.
I think it is really pretty and exotic. I used to see it in name books though and had no clue how to pronounce it until Gilmore girls. However I wouldn't use the name for that reason. I love the show and associate the name too much with the character.
Lora for a nickname.
Lora for a nickname.
NN's: Lor, Lori
Lorelei is an ultimate favourite for me.
I would personally use Leila as a nn if it needed one.
Leila(pro. Ly-lah).

I quite like it, though it's somewhat trendy. The sound is nice, and the history is very interesting and appealing in a weird way, even if it's not the happiest. The meaning isn't the best, but the history and pretty sound outweighs the meaning in this case, for me at least.
I can't abide the ignorant misspelling of Lorelai. I simply can't stand it. Especially now that it's so popular because of Gilmore Girls. Oh how I wish the producers had at least spelled the name right! (In fact I even named a girl in my first FF Lorelei Osaka, purely as a form of protest against Lorelai.)
I really don't think Lorelei needs a nn. The only one I can think of that's not a ridiculous stretch is Lori, or Rory, and I don't care for either nn. (Though, if the child herself chooses either nn, that's fine with me.)

I think it's really really pretty. I used to know a little girl named Lorelei (years ago. I guess she'd be about 13 now!)And it's the title of a favorite song by the Pogues.
Possible nicknames? Lore, Lorie, Leila?

I like it's very pretty, and personally, I'd use Lila as a nn
